A Quick Shoot with Savanna
Here is a few samples from a quick fashion shoot I did recently in Victoria, BC with the stunning Savanna, who is not only a great model, but a talented sailor as well. When I say quick shoot I mean really quick this time, as in 45min from start to finish. The outfit for this shoot was pieced together from some local shops, and had a really nice mix of classic Victorian feel with some bohemian style.
I came across this incredible location for the shoot just the day before well walking around checking out the city. This spot is located in the old city by the inner harbor and is actually the corner/end of an old alley/walkway that goes around a bunch or shops and restaurants. The natural lighting in this area was incredible, and was perfectly diffused even light, but I wanted to add a little more edge and definition to the scene as per my typical style. I kept it fairly simple and clean for this set. I used a medium softbox for a hard directional fill balanced out with the ambient light for a 1 stop difference. Then I used a bare-headed strobe for accenting certain areas I wanted to stand out a bit more.
As you can see from the sample images above Savanna has an incredible look, and is really easy to work with. From putting the outfit together, hair & makeup, and suggesting some good shot ideas. She comes prepared, ready to shoot, on time, and brings a lot of fun and energy to the set.
